Bushings

Bugpack Complete Polyurethane Suspension Bushing Kits include everything you need to convert your existing Suspension to polyurethane. They are specially designed to improve the handling of your VW and deliver consistent performance. These highly durable Bushing Kits perform better than the stock rubber bushings.

Urethane Front End Bushing Sets from Bugpack feature single piece Bushings that can replace both inner and outer Bushings of your VW Beetles, Super Beetles, Ghias, Sand Rails and Dune Buggies with axle-beam front ends. These Bushing Sets are extremely resistant to the harmful effects of dust and other contaminants. They efficiently eliminate excessive front-end play and impaired handling ensuring an improved performance of your VW Suspension. These durable Bushing Sets prevent your VW’s torsion arms from being damaged by effectively absorbing the Shocks.

Coil Springs

Bugpack Adjustable Spring Plates feature an external dial that allows 1-1/2" up or down adjustments with a turn of a screw. These Spring Plates enable you to increase the ground clearance of your VW for off-road driving or to lower your VW for better handling. They help optimize the performance of your VW Suspension. Adjustable Spring Plates Special inner and outer urethane grommets are included for a complete installation.

Lowering Kits

Coil Spring Lowering Kits are perfect to lower the front or rear Coil Springs of your VW by up to 3" without the need to cut, weld or heat. They include four compressor assemblies to lower one pair of Coil Springs. These Lowering Kits make your VW extremely stable, improving the ride quality considerably.

Power Steering & Gear Box

Rack & Pinion

Dune Buggy Racks and Pinions are perfect to use on your VW Dune Buggy for off-road driving. They improve the steering response of your VW providing you with better control while off-roading on your Dune Buggy. These Racks and Pinions are made of heavy-duty steel making them durable and sturdy. Dune Buggy Racks and Pinions are available in a compact aluminum case that includes rod ends, bellows and rack shoes.

Shocks & Struts

Gabriel® Air-Adjustable Shock Absorbers are ideal to use while carrying extra passengers or heavy loads on your VW. These Air-Adjustable Shock Absorbers prevent your VW’s rear end from sagging, providing your VW with increased tire clearance and improved traction. They enable you to raise the rear end of your VW by up to 4" and allow you to adjust to the required height. They include an installation kit and instructions making for an easy and effortless installation.

5100 Series Off-Road Gas Shocks from Bilstein® Shocks are valved to ensure improved handling and better ride quality. These VW Shocks have a mono-tube gas-pressure design that provides you with a fade-free performance and longer service life. A race-proven self-adjusting disc valve helps you to control your VW better ensuring greater stability. Strong, chrome-plated 14-mm casehardened rods have a 2" diameter for increased oil capacity and better cooling. These Gas Shocks have vulcanized rubber end-loop assemblies and a seamless zinc-plated shock body with a black boot making them extremely durable.

Gas-Charged Performance Shocks from EMPI are oil filled Shock Absorbers that help prevent your VW’s tires and Suspension from being damaged. They provide your VW with improved stability and handling and ensure a smooth and comfortable drive. These Performance Shocks feature a car-specific valving that allows the Shock piston to adjust to changing road conditions automatically.

Heavy-Duty VW Shock Absorbers from Gabriel® efficiently resist vibrations and sway providing your VW with improved stability and ride control. These Shock Absorbers feature an over-sized 1-3/16" diameter hardened steel piston enabling them to have a 20% more fluid capacity, compression and recoil area than 1" Shocks. Gabriel® Shock Absorbers feature an all-weather fluid for enhanced stability and smooth cylinder walls for less friction. They have a chrome-plated, corrosion-resistant steel body making them durable.

Gabriel® Gas Ryder® Strut Cartridges provide your VW with superior handling, stability and control without sacrificing the driving comfort. These Strut Cartridges have a high-pressure gas charge that ensures a quick and improved response under changing driving conditions. The pressure reduces the fluid foaming that causes faulty dampening and fade. They efficiently resist compression, aiding rebound to maintain tire/road contact. The exclusive Gabriel® G-Force / Velocity Sensitive Technology is instantly self-adjusting, resulting in faster reaction to the performance demands of your VW. The all-weather fluid provides more consistent performance even in extreme temperatures and contains additives for extended service life.

Steering Column & Shaft

Chrome-Plated Heavy-Duty Steering Shafts from EMPI are necessary while off-roading in your VW. These heavy-duty 7/8" Steering Shafts add a bright custom touch and are perfect for Dune Buggy Type I Chassis. They feature a 3-bolt flange and they can be effortlessly installed using a Shaft support with bearing.

Steering Stabilizers & Dampers

Hydraulic Steering Stabilizers help prevent steering wheel “kick” caused by bad roads and potholes. They effectively absorb the shocks to your VW’s steering system and eliminate shimmy ensuring safe and easy handling at all times. They are standard replacements to the factory originals and feature an easy bolt-on installation.

EMPI IRS Box Kits are perfect to strengthen the IRS trailing arms of your VW for off-road use. These Box Kits include six pre-cut steel pieces that can be welded onto the inside back, top and bottom of stock IRS rear trailing arm to improve strength and rigidity significantly. They are economical alternatives to custom-fabricated trailing arms.

Strut Bars & Suspension Braces

Chrome-Plated Strut Stabilizer Bar Kits from EMPI efficiently eliminate body shake and faulty handling providing your VW with better stability and control. These Strut Stabilizer Bar Kits are specifically engineered by experts and can be used with '71-'79 VW Super Beetles. They maintain Suspension alignment by stiffening the Strut tower. They also add a custom-appearance to your VW. The kits include a bar, a bracket and all the necessary hardware for a complete installation.

EMPI Chrome-Plated Rear Engine Braces help prevent engine flex and wheel hop by providing added strength and support to the rear of your VW engine. These Engine Braces can be easily installed from left to right at the rear of your VW’s engine, just below the oil pump cover. They include brackets, hooks and all the necessary hardware.

Sway Bars & Anti-Sway Bars

Polyurethane Sway Bar Bushings from Dee Engineering are strong and function better than the rubber Bushings. These highly durable Bushings are highly resistant to extreme temperatures and friction. The brackets feature slotted holes for universal mounting and effortless installation.

EMPI High-Performance Sway Bars improve the handling of your VW by efficiently reducing body sway and preventing wheel hop during hard cornering. They include red urethane Bushings that perform better than rubber Bushings. All the components and hardware are zinc plated making these Sway Bars rust resistant.

Tie Rods & Sleeves

EMPI Chrome-Plated Tie Rods are available with or without Dampers for your VW. Tie Rods with Dampers provide your VW with a smooth steering response making them ideal for on-road drives. Tie Rods without Dampers are perfect for stiffer off-road steering. They are made from heavy-duty steel making them strong and durable. These chrome-plated Tie Rods enhance the look of your Dune Buggy or Sand Trail. They make perfect replacements for stock Tie Rods on your Type I Chassis.

JC Whitney also stocks Inner Tie Rod Ends and Tie Rod Assemblies that replace the factory originals on your VW and EMPI Heavy-Duty Tie Rod Assemblies that can be used with Dune Buggy Rack and Pinion to improve steering and off-road control.

Traction & Torsion Bars

Bugpack Torsion Bars improve handling and stability of your VW by increasing spring rate and roll stiffness. These Torsion Bars help minimize weight transfer and body roll and provide better cornering ability for your VW. They have increased spline lengths that help strengthen coupling at each end. They are made from ultra-light tensile-certified aircraft-alloy steel that is heat-treated to the specified standards and are ground to precise tolerances making them essential while off-roading. Prevent rust, corrosion, severe bottoming and subsequent driveline and chassis problems by replacing the standard, soft Torsion Bars with these baked-on powder-coated Torsion Bars.
